Amira Daoudi studied at the Royal Academy of Visual Arts Sint-Lukas in Brussels and currently works as an artistic director specialising in film poster graphics. What began as a favour to a friend, who happened to be director Gust Van den Berghe (Blue Bird), soon resulted in a flood of assignments from the film industry, including poster artwork for various Flemish productions such as Bullhead, The Invader, Madonna’s Pig, Pulsar, Monkey Sandwich, Empire of Dust, and Epilogue as well as Patrice Toye’s upcoming featureLittle Black Spiders. The poster of Joachim Lafosse’s A perdre la raison, selected for Cannes’ Un Certain Regard, is also signed Amira Daoudi.
The artist herself describes the creation of a poster as ‘a labour of passion’. She loves to experiment and find a way to distil into a single image the film’s atmosphere, aesthetic, story and message, along with all the other elements that go into the making of an interesting screen work.
